The Spina Bifida Association of Georgia (SBAG), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has developed strategic initiatives to create and implement community outreach programs for healthcare, independence and prevention.  The SBAG works to:
  1. Advocate for the availability of appropriate, comprehensive and coordinated programs to improve quality of life for individuals affected by Spina Bifida, providing more opportunities and choices.

  2. Provide support programs which mentor young parents and families of children and young adults affected by Spina Bifida.  These programs include medical, educational, vocational, social and recreational initiatives to meet the needs of individuals with Spina Bifida.

  3. Build public awareness about Spina Bifida, increase community understanding and inclusion, and enhance the quality of life for persons affected by Spina Bifida.

  4. Provide prevention education and promote the daily consumption of folic acid by women in child-bearing years to reduce births affected by Spina Bifida.
